You’ll probably know the books The Eight and The Fire. Both were written by Katherine Neville; the first one is over 20 years old and is a world-wide bestseller and a reference title for anyone interested in adventure novels with an esoteric/historic theme. The second one is a continuation of the first and was published in late 2008 amidst a huge advertising campaign.
I discovered The Eight some years ago and I loved it. I might write a review another day because this is not the purpose of this post. Whilst reading The Fire I thought that the books could become awesome movies but I didn’t hear anything of it on the Internet. Thus, I sent her an email (I’ll copy the full, unedited email to avoid disbeliefs as far as posible):
Hello!
Firstly, I’d like to say that I love your books. I started with The Eight (obviously) and I later found The Magic Circle. I’ve seen in your webpage that you have also written A Calculated Risk so I that’s the one I have left. I’ve recently purchased The Fire but I’m re-reading the first part to refresh my memory.
Whilst reading, I started wondering: Haven’t they contacted you to make a movie adaptation of The Eight? It could make a great movie and looking at the film industry it’s strange that they haven’t tried it yet. If they’ve made two from the Dan Brown’s books I don’t see why not yours. Heck, they’re even trying to make a movie adaptation of the Hyperion Cantos (by Dan Simmons) which, in my opinion, is almost impossible to transfer faithfully to the big screen.

And this was her answer:
Yes Carlos–
We ARE making movies of THE EIGHT and THE FIRE– let me know who you think should play the parts!
Best thoughts–Katherine Neville
So… they’re making movies of The Eight and The Fire! I thought the Internet would like to know this.
